Surgical Procedures

Providing high-quality surgical care in a stress-free and relaxing environment.

At some point during your pet’s lifetime, chances are he or she will need to undergo some type of surgery; whether it’s a routine spay or neuter or something more complex. At AMC, we understand how difficult and stressful this time can be for you and your pet. That’s why we work hard to ensure that each surgical procedure we perform is done in a way that makes the experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible for everyone. We want you to feel confident, knowing that when you bring your pet to us for surgery, they will be in excellent hands.

Dr. Guilloud was an early promoter of mandatory pre-surgical blood testing for dogs and cats, the administration of intravenous fluids throughout the procedure and pre and post-operative pain management – even for routine surgeries such as spay (OHE) and neuter (orchiectomy). Since 1995, AMC used the CO2 laser for surgery, helping to improve recovery time. Our veterinary hospitals take all the precautions to eliminate the fear of anesthesia.  When anesthetizing a pet we use individual protocols based on a number of factors, which includes the type of procedure, his or her preexisting conditions, blood test values, age, breed and prior anesthetic experience.

All surgical patients receive a thorough physical exam as well as diagnostic testing to determine whether or not they are healthy enough to undergo surgery. Our highly skilled veterinary surgeon performs a wide range of procedures using the highest standard of care and the most modern veterinary surgical techniques and equipment. We use only the safest available anesthesia products, and all surgical patients are carefully monitored by our experienced technicians to ensure their safety at all times. Our state-of-the-art surgical suite is fully equipped and even features a heated surgery table for optimum patient comfort.
